Polly Cruse focuses on the everyday, and the relationships between the intangible and the material. Currently she is investigating the need for a haven from the outside world and the importance played by found objects, gifts and memorabilia.
My work is influenced and inspired by the sixteen and seventeenth century Dutch still life flower paintings and their ability to balance reason and mystery in equal measures, and of the Surrealist movement and their belief that the everyday is where the marvellous exists.
