Following my instincts plays a large part in the production of my work. I normally chose objects to use as a theme, for their aesthetic qualities and particular significance beyond their everyday use. During the process a tussle goes on between retaining the identity of the original idea and the satisfactory composition of shape, line, contrast, colour, space, balance in the confines of the surface area. In doing this I hope for a release of something into the work that provides me with surprises. There are times when the origin motif goes completely to be replaced by something else not easily identified.

Along with this abstracted work I have produced many human head painting and drawings. These are inspired by my memory, observation and imagination and are worked on in a similar process as my other work.
