How many negative thoughts pass through your mind during one Saturday Afternoon

Oil Pastel on Paper on Board - 100 x 150cm

Colin Devine was born and brought up in Norwich. He has a degree in Philosophy and Art History and has lived and worked in Thessaloniki, Madrid and London.

Artist’s Statement: In my abstract work I employ the Surrealist method of Automatic Drawing to achieve a vibrant visual outcome.
One mark suggest another until I feel that the work is ‘there’.
The question for me is this: does the work live, breathe and have depth/resonance beyond its formal structure?
Another way of putting this would be to quote the French artist Odilon  Redon, ‘The visible in the service of the invisible.’
