Shifting between abstraction and figuration, my mixed media work develops from my experience of walking and being in the landscape. I try to convey the spirit and feeling of the place and explore the ways in which the land has been shaped by time, investigating how the elements and human activity have altered and transformed it. My paints are often made from the earth pigments which I collect along the way, grinding and mixing them with acrylic polymers and resins to create different textures and tones. The resulting layers evoke our ancient past, rich cultures, geology and myth.
